This past weekend, Consultants Desamparados hosted Asociación Deportiva Cariari at the José Joaquín “Colleya” Fonseca Stadium. The match was set to be a tough one as it was delayed for about 25 minutes due to heavy thunderstorms. The match finally started around 4:25 p.m. but was suspended again for another 16 minutes due to bad weather. Eventually, the ball was back in play and the storm seemed to have subsided. Both teams fought for possession as it was a more physical contest.
The first half came to a stalemate as both teams were unable to score. In the second half, many substitutions were made in order to search for a goal. Consultants was able to create a plethora of opportunities at the start of the second half, but Cariari was able to capitalize on a mistake down the wing and score the first goal.
Consultants continued to hold their heads high and eventually created even more opportunities. Jorge Castro was able to hit the right post just moments after the goal. The team did everything possible to find the goal, but unfortunately they were unable to find the equalizer. The final score was 1-0 in favor of Cariari.
Consultants next match will be away this Sunday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. in Guápiles. Consultores will face Limón Black Star at the Ebal Rodríguez stadium. This will be the closing match of the first round of the championship.
