FC Desamparados took on Santa Ana FC at the Estadio Rafael Bolaños last Saturday, October 29th at 2:00pm.
FC Desamparados recorded a tie against the group leader, Santa Ana FC, last Saturday as a visitor. This was a tense game which saw both sides searching for three points.
The game started strong by the home team, as they broke the deadlock in the first 26 seconds of the game. Santa Ana was making sure the visitors understood why they are at the top of the group table.
Nevertheless, FC Desamparados had no other option than to wake up, improve their defending and create more options when attacking.
Even though the minutes that followed the visitors had the most pressure upon them, they began to create plenty of chances to score. However, they weren’t able precise enough to place the ball into goal.
As the game continued, there was a dispute of the ball before the first half ended on. Once the play was over, a Santa Ana FC player, spitted on the back of our midfielder, Jose Tello, causing the player to be sent off by the referee. The home team played with 10 players the rest of the game.
The second half started strong by FC Desamparados, who was able to assert their dominance and maintain the possession of the ball on the opponents half. Regardless of their efforts they weren’t able to score.
It was until the 76th minute, when FC Desamparados found a space whilst attacking inside the opponents’ box, when there was a foul committed. The referee called the penalty in favor of the visitor team. It was our game’s MVP, Diego Estrada, who was in charge of taking the kick.
With a strong shot to his right side, he scored the first goal for FC Desamparados.
The visitors gain momentum and maintained a high tempo, which led the Honduran player Samir Félix, to dribble inside the box and shoot to goal on the 83rd minute.
The advantage did not last long, as Santa Ana FC saw an opportunity to tie only 3 minutes later.
The teams played until the 90 + 3 minutes and there was no change on the scoreboard.
Following the match, FC Desamparados will encounter Limón Blackstar on Sunday November 5th, at the Estadio El Labrador.
