FC Desamparados took on AD Aserrí FC at the Estadio Municipal de Aserrí last Sunday, September 10th at 2:00pm.
Even though FC Desamparados came as a visitor, they were looking to secure those three points in order to come out of that 8th place in Group B’s league table.
The game started strong with the visitor team keen to make an impact on the contest. They were able to assert their dominance by keeping the possession of the ball, however they weren’t able to concrete their chances.
FC Desamparados saw a clear opportunity in the 25th minute, when Kevin Baltodano crossed an outstanding ball to the striker Alfred Pérez, leaving him face-to-face with the goalkeeper. Pérez was able to take him out, yet was committed a foul inside the box and fell to the ground. The referees did not see it as a foul and decided not to call for the penalty.
The game continued at a high tempo with attacks from both teams, yet none were able to score.
FC Desamparados secured a draw in their away game with a final score of 0-0. Despite a sustained effort and battle until the end, FC Desamparados could not find a decisive goal and were forced to settle for a point.
Following the match, FC Desamparados will encounter CS Uruguay on Friday September 15th, at 8:00pm at the Estadio Corella Fonseca.
