Alfred Pérez is the latest addition to the squad. All the way from Miami, USA, the striker arrived by beginning of June to Costa Rica for preseason.
Pérez is 23 years old and is 1.85m tall. He’s born and raise in Miami, however his family is from Cuba and Spain. His father played professional baseball for the Houston Astros in the 1980s. Before coming to FC Desamparados, Pérez played as a student-athlete for Harvard and USF.
In his youth years, Pérez was a member of the U16 and U18 US National team. The striker was team captain and led the US in goals scored by a player born in 1999. In addition, he was top goal scorer for four consecutive years with Weston FC.
Pérez went to Harvard University from 2018-2021. In 2018 Pérez played in 15 games with 10 starts. The striker scored his first career goal at No. 23 Air Force (Sept. 16), scored game winner in victory over Yale (Sept. 29), and tallied a season-high four shots against Brown (Oct. 13).
In 2019, he played in 14 games with 13 starts, tallied four points on two goals on the year, and totaled 26 shots and 18 shots on goal on the season.
His 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.
In 2021, he played in 14 games with three starts in his final season at Harvard, posted 12 shots and four shots on goal on the season, and appeared in six of seven Ivy League games.
Then, the striker transferred to University of South Florida in 2022 to play his senior year.
Pérez explains he is grateful with the club and God for this new opportunity. “People here have been super nice and helped me settle in the best possible way. I’m really happy and have high hopes to do good things,” Pérez says.
He continues, “There’s a lot of young and experienced players, which I believe is a good mix and know they will all give their best to win and ascend the team to the First Division.”
Pérez is excited to join the team in season, as soon as he gets his paperwork finish.
