Last Sunday September 11th, John Flores made his debut with FC Desamparados, when the First Team faced Cariari Pococí on their home field, Estadio Jorge Hernán Cuty Monge.
Flores has had a vast trajectory in the Costa Rican Football. He played for the youth teams of Guadalupe FC, Sub-15 (Aug 2017 to July 2018) and Sub-17 (Aug 2019 to Nov 2019). He also played for the Sub-17 of UCR for one year (July 2018 to July 2019).
In addition, he played in the Alto Rendimiento of Guadalupe from Nov 2019 to March 2020. Flores proceeded to play for the First Team of Guadalupe, where he played from July 2020 to August 2021. The defender had his debut in the Costa Rican First Division on December 6th 2020 with Guadalupe FC.
Flores has also been called for the Sub20 cycles with the National Team of Costa Rica, coached by Vladimir Quesada.
Later on, Flores arrived to the Alto Rendimiento of FC Desamparados, where he met the current team coach, Christian “Lula” Montero. Flores was then promoted to the First Team and had his first appearance in an official Liga de Ascenso game last Sunday.
The defender was subbed in at the 73rd min of the game. Flores explained this was a new experience for him, and he is grateful for the opportunity. “This was something new for me as it’s until now that I debut in Second Division, and I subbed into a very intense and physical game,” Flores said.
He continued, “I just arrived to the team and I’m grateful with the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity of debuting with the First Team.”
Flores also explained there is a lot of good competition in the team and he arrived to work hard and be able to get those types of opportunities.
