FC Desamparados received Escorpiones de Belén on Wednesday, August 24th. The home game resulted in a 2-1 win for FC Desamparados.
The home team opened the scoring in the 19th minute with an outstanding goal outside the box by Jose Alejandro Ruiz.
Even though it was box to box from both teams, there was no more goals scored in the first half.
Later on, on a corner kick by FC Desamparados, the midfielder Héctor Vásquez was able to head the ball towards the back of the net. He celebrated the goal by placing the ball under his jersey announcing he’ll soon be a father.
Escorpiones de Belén tried to come back after scoring in the 75th minute, but it was not enough.
The final score was 2-1.
Alejandro Ruiz explained he was very happy about scoring and it gives him a lot of confidence, “I’m really happy about the goal. Scoring really gives you a lot of confidence, also because of the minutes I played,” he said.
Ruiz continued, “It’s been a while since the last time I played due to the surgery and a break that I had. This fills me with joy and it’s a combination of a lot of work and recovery I’ve had in previous months.”
Ruiz expressed that these 3 points are very important for the team, “One of the goals we had at the beginning of the tournament was to not lose any games on our home field, and so far we have not been defeated,” he said.
Following the match, FC Desamparados will play their next season game on Saturday against Uruguay Coronado. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00pm at Estadio el Labrador.
