FC Desamparados fell 2-1 to the current group leader, Municipal Aserrí FC on Friday, August 19th, at the Rafael Bolaños Stadium.
Aserrí FC opened the scoring early in the game, this was at the 2nd minute by Pablo Esquivel.
However, FC Desamparados was able to come back at the 14th minute when Fabricio Venegas took a strong shot inside the box right into the left corner of the net.
FC Desamparados took the lead in the game and created a lot of chances inside the box, however, they weren’t able to finish them.
The last goal of the match was scored by the end of the first half, on the 41st minute by Aserrí FC’s player, Verny Scott.
Even though FC Desamparados was not able to put the scoreboard on their favor, there was a particular player that stood out due to their excellent performance in the pitch. His name is Luis Eduardo Vera and is one of the Sub20 players taking part in the tournament.
With only 16 years of age, Luis Vera was part of the starting 11 for this game. “I believe the team did a great job and personally, I felt really well in the pitch. At the end, I just did what the coach asked me to do,” Vera said.
Vera expressed that even though the team is doing a good job and dominating the games, it’s the small details that have caused them to lose points, “The team is playing well, but it’s the specific mistakes we make that cost us the 3 points,” he said.
“Regardless of the result, we need to work on the details so we can start winning more games. In order to aspire for a championship, we firstly need to reach the qualification zone,” Vera said.
FC Desamparados will return home for the second match of the season on Wednesday, August 24th against Escorpiones de Belén. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 am at Jorge Hernán “Cuty” Monge.
