After being part of the Futbol Consultants institution for nearly eight years, the defender, Alejandro Arenas, finally had his debut with the Second Division team, FC Desamparados.
Arenas began his path with the institution in 2016, when he joined Futbol Consultants Edson Soto when he was only 10 years of age. After many years of discipline, commitment, and hard work, the defender finally had his opportunity to debut with the first team as a 17-year-old.
He experienced his first minutes in Second Division last Thursday, August 11th against Municipal Santa Ana. The game was played at Rafael Bolaños Stadium at 3:00PM, where FC Desamparados finally won their first game of the season with a 1-0 score.
Even though Arenas had been preparing for this moment for a long time, he expressed he still felt nervous before subbing in. “Having my debut in Second Division was a completely different experience from what I’ve ever had. For the past months I’ve been preparing myself for that moment. Right before entering the pitch, I was really nervous. However, I believe being nervous or anxious are common for any player that’s about to have his debut,” Arenas said.
He expressed how grateful he is not only with the coach, but also the institution for giving him the opportunity to play his first match in Second Division. He continued, “I hope I can earn more minutes for the games to come and demonstrate my potential.”
Arenas expressed his content with his process and how much the institution has helped him become the player he is today. “The process has been long; however, I can truly say Futbol Consultants not only looks for good soccer players, but they also form great human beings,” Arenas said.
He continued, “The formation in the youth leagues is really good as it allows all players to improve in all aspects inside and outside the pitch. All that helped me to improve as a player and progress as a person.”
