FC Desamparados received the Caribbean team, Limón Black Stars on Saturday, August 6th. The home opener resulted in a 1-1 tie and a game full of emotions.
Before the kick off, there was a change in the starting eleven. #17 Davis Paniagua, was out due to an injury, and substituted by #14 Luis Vera.
The home team opened the scoring in the 11th minute by Sergio Moreno and assisted by Fabricio Venegas.
On the 32nd minute, the referee called for a penalty due to a handball by FC Desamparados in the box. However, the goalkeeper #1 Alex Urbina, stopped the penalty kick with an outstanding save.
By the 45th minute + 2, Limón Black Stars tied the game with a goal by #8 Marvin Esquivel.
After a strong foul on FC Desamparados player, Fabricio Venegas, the Caribbean player Elking Scooby was sent off due to a red card on the 73rd minute.
The Panamanian, Sergio Montero, had 2 clear chances to score, as well as Benjamin Ocampo. Nevertheless, Limón’s goalkeeper made 4 important saves to keep to scoreboard tied.
The final score was 1-1.
Following the match, FC Desamparados will play their next season game on Thursday against Santa Ana. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00pm at Rafael Bolaños Stadium.
