Futbol Consultants almost completed an epic comeback, but suffered an intense 3-2 loss against Santa Ana last Sunday at the Piedades Stadium.
In the first half our boys brought danger to the rival box, in fact Alexander Monge was close to opening the score, but the local goalkeeper managed to block the shot.
As we began to play our best, Santa Ana was able to sneak onto the scoreboard. It was thanks to a counterattack that ended with Justin Jiménez scoring in the 30th minute.
In the second half things would get more complicated as the opponents scored at 54′ and 69′, increasing their lead to three goals.
However, Consultants never lowered our heads and in the 76th minute we reacted with Tommy Muñoz’s first goal of the afternoon, after finishing a cross from the right.
Tommy himself was going to later make the score 3-2 with only 10 minutes to go thanks to a long-distance shot that gave us hope.
When the game was nearing the end, the referee whistled for a penalty kick for Consultants, but the goalkeeper saved Sergio Moreno’s shot.
The comeback was still alive at the feet of Randy Ramírez who created a play on the right, but when he finished off the shot it snuck just wide.
Despite the defeat, the mood was not all bad because the team showed enough courage to rise from adversity.
On the next match week, Consultants will continue the search for qualification when they face Barrio México at the Cuty Monge stadium next Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m. (Costa Rica time).
