Futbol Consultants signed 15-year-old Academy product Benjamin Ocampo to a homegrown professional contract through the 2025 season.
Since his debut on September 29th, 2021, the same day he celebrated his 15th birthday, Ocampo has participated for 223 minutes throughout eight games with the first team.
His technical qualities, his intelligence when playing and his mental strength are some of the characteristics that coach Edson Soto highlighted about the youngster.
“Benjamín has shown the country that he is one of the best up and coming wingers that Costa Rica national soccer has, he is a player with a very good offensive one-on-one, in addition to that he has great technical ability and has the discipline of a high-performance athlete” said the coach.
Some of his main achievements at his young age, are being U-11 and U-13 scoring leader from LIASCE Youth League in Costa Rica playing for Futbol Consultants Edson Soto Academy.
In addition, he is regularly called up to the U-15 National Team.
“I am very happy to sign my first professional contract at such a young age. First, I want to continue gaining confidence and a personal goal is to help the team score goals”, said Ocampo.
Another important aspect that led to his signing despite his youth, is the personality with which he managed to join a group full of players older than him.
“He is a player who since he arrived has earned the respect of the leaders and they know that ge gas what it takes to help because he has the quality to do so,” said Edson Soto.
For the player, the treatment he has received from his teammates has filled him with confidence.
“I feel very supported by the most experienced players and I also have a lot of confidence with them, that’s why I feel very comfortable in the team,” said Benjamín.
Recently Ocampo had an internship with Hannover 96 together with Ricardo Peña and Andrey Salmerón where he left very good impressions against the Germans.
