The FC Desamparados players, Ricardo Peña (17 years old), Benjamín Ocampo (15 years old) and Andrey Salmerón (17 years old) are in Germany, together with our exclusive club-agent José Luis Rodríguez, doing an internship at Hannover 96, a club with a long tradition.
The footballers left last Friday for Germany and will join training on Monday Nov 15th.
The Agent – José Luis Rodríguez; explained that the players’ performances, combined with the company’s contacts, opened the doors for these three boys.
Monica Malavassi, president of our football club, added:
“Andrey Salmeron and Ricardo Peña are key players with the Costa Rica U-20 National Team. They both did really well in the recent friendly matches against the Uruguay National Team and Benjamin Ocampo is probably the best player in the country in his age group. That draws the attention of any club, so we immediately contacted Hannover 96, which is a very serious team and have a top youth system so that they have the opportunity to see them up close”.
The change of climate, the time difference and a new language will be part of the tests that the players will have to face in Germany, but on the field, they have been developed in our Futbol Consultants Academy and tested with our first team and the national team giving all of the boys intense international experience.
Hannover 96 was founded in 1896 and is currently competing in the second tier of German soccer, 2. Bundesliga.
In the 2011-12 season they participated in the UEFA Europa League and reached the quarter-finals, while the following year they also competed in the tournament and reached the round of 32.
