On a far from perfect field, in one of the hottest climates in Costa Rica, Futbol Consultants managed to get a valuable victory in their visit to top of the table team, Golfito.
With a spectacular stoppage time comeback, our team added three more points to remain firm in the fight to qualify for the next round.
The game was not easy as the home team took an early 2-0 lead after scoring in the 13′ and 33′. However, the boys managed to react in time.
First it was with a combination between Tommy Muñoz and Marc Marruecos. “Marru” entered the box and found the back of the net with his right foot to cut the home team’s lead in half.
In the second half Consultants dominated the possession and found the tie after a throw-in by David Herrera found Andrey Salmerón’s head at 62′ to make it 2-2.
Coach Edson Soto wasn’t content with a tie. In an effort to push for the win, he sent Randy Ramirez onto the pitch.
The 17-year-old made a magnificent play, leaving four rival players in his wake, before serving a perfect pass for Sebastián Suñol to finish with his left foot in the 91st minute giving us the agonizing victory.
With this result, Consultants reached 16 points and ranks fifth in Group B.
On the next match day, our boys will face Municipal Santa Ana at the Jorge Hernán “Cuty” Monge stadium on Sunday, October 10 at 11 a.m. (local time).
