It was not the result we wanted, but it left us in the qualifying zone. The 1 – 1 draw against Turrialba, allowed Futbol Consultants to reach the fourth box on the leaderboard in Group B.
This Wednesday at the Jorge Hernán “Cuty” Monge stadium, our men took to the field with conviction of winning the game, however, it was difficult to score a goal in the first minutes of the game.
After the Turrialbeño player Carlos Quirós was sent off, the visitors reinforced their defense and managed to get ahead on the scoreboard after the referee sanctioned a penalty on a counterattack. Johan Bonilla scored at the 45th minute.
The first half ended with 0 – 1, but we kept our heads up and with many chances to score.
It wasn’t until the 71st minute that Alexander Monge hit a laser of shot right over the goalkeeper’s head, which made it 1-1.
Despite the insistence of Futbol Consultants trying to achieve the winning goal, time was up unfortunately and the game ended level.
With that point, FC reached 12 points and placed in the qualifying zone for the quarterfinals and three points from second place.
This weekend our men will have a free day and will return to play until September 25th or 26th against Aserrí at the “Cuty” Stadium.
